Why? Because sometimes the name finds you.

Hospitality and my journey through coffee has shaped how I see people, places, and the table between them.
Along the way i tried on various names, but this one hung around. It moved in.

Format isn’t loud or pushy. It’s a quiet carrier with a gentle meaningful touch, representing exact and modern work. Not forgetting that coffee, for all its complexity is a reason to connect.

Like friendships, names develop and evolve over time. And the good ones stick.

WHO WE ARE

Neal - Resident Optimist, once swapped a bag of coffee for a broken lawnmower, fixed and still starts first pull every time.

Speciality coffee was barely a thing when i started in 2008. Seventeen years later it still feels reason enough to keep showing up — a way to stay exact in the craft, and modern in the approach.

The philosophy’s simple: do one thing well, with a fondness for the everyday and the occasional sideways idea.

The short version? Trying not to shit on the planet, not in a big world-saving kind of way — just in the daily, do-what-you-can kind of way. Without the marketing toss.

FORMAT COFFEE DEPARTMENT

This is where it begins: Green lots chosen with care, roasted exact. Some coffees stay steady, others come and go as fleeting releases - each roasted with the same attention.

FORMAT SERVICE DEPARTMENT

Dealers, machines, water, advice - most of it behind the scenes, unglamorous work, but all necessary. We fix, maintain and above all support, ensuring a smooth operation without you worrying about what’s happening under the hood.

FORMAT LOGISTICS DEPARTMENT

Boxes, bags, jars, tape, labels, couriers. The part nobody celebrates but everyone relies on. We get the coffee out the door, where it needs to be, on time. Its mostly not glamorous but it matters.

Get too excited, Sprint, Dance anymore, Knit, Bullshit, Stop.
